Psychiatry - Mental Illnesses
Peace of Mind and Happiness
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Sun, 09/27/2009 - 07:08.In my opinion, the most important objective of the life is to achieve peace and happiness.
After all, thats what we try to do everyday when we feed our senses, isn't it?
How many of us are really fortunate enough to achieve that in our lives?
Competition, lack of time, stress etc etc is blamed for this. We are in an elusive state, "when that thing is done I will be happy".
This has health implications too. worsening of migraine, peptic ulceration, anxiety and other neurotic problems are some of the well known conditions that could get worse by this.

Schizophrenia-'Seeing the unreal..'
Submitted by editor on Tue, 03/25/2008 - 16:33.What is Schizophrenia?
This is a form of mental disorder in which the patient identifies non existent objects and people as real.
The commonest symptom in Schizophrenia is seeing imaginary visions and
believing them to be real.
This is called ‘hallucinations’ and it can take many forms. It can even be in the form of hearing a (imaginary) voice speaking to you (auditory hallucinations) or other forms of imaginary sensations.
There are several theories as to why people get it, but it is discovered that in genetically susceptible people, psychological stress can trigger this
New Research on Alcohol Consumption Pattern
A new research on alcohol consumption has concluded that as compared to the married, cohabiting and living alone are associated with heavy drinking and alcohol dependence. Unemployment, financial difficulties and low social support, and among women also living in an urban area, seem to contribute to the excess risk.

Depression - Easy things that you can do to get a relief
Submitted by Nice Doctor on Tue, 03/25/2008 - 16:00.1. Relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, and self-hypnosis all offer similar benefits, and if you can find a teacher or a class where you can learn one of these it might benefit your physical, as well as your mental health. There are also some good books and tapes on the subject.
2. Regular exercise is good for the mind and the body.
3. Eat a healthy diet, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. This is good for mind and body.
4. Consider slowing down your pace of living. A short holiday might help.
